Daniel R. Martin
Daniel R. Martin joined Thrun Law Firm in May of 2013, focusing his practice on labor and employment law, general school law, OMA and FOIA, and general municipal law. Dan received his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School in 1995, and his B.A. from Albion College in 1992.
With over thirty years of legal experience, Dan regularly advises public school and municipal clients on diverse matters. Dan regularly advises clients on labor and employment related matters, including ADA and FMLA. Dan regularly advises school districts on all student matters, including special education, discipline, and constitutional issues. Dan has also successfully negotiated numerous labor contracts for school districts and municipalities. Dan represents municipal clients on all matters, including planning and zoning.
Dan is admitted to practice in Michigan and the U.S. District Court, Western District of Michigan. He is a member of the National Council of School Attorneys and the Michigan Council of School Attorneys (past president).
For several years, Dan has served as an adjunct professor and previously taught Constitutional Law to undergraduate students and continues to teach Educational Law and Policy in the graduate program at Grand Valley State University.
Dan lives in West Michigan with his wife, Wynne. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two adult children, as well as exploring photography, reading, and engaging in various outdoor activities depending on the season.
