Thrun Law Firm announces the well-deserved retirement of our colleague and friend Kevin Harty who is retiring after 36 years of exemplary service to this Firm and the school districts throughout Michigan. As many of you know, Kevin’s tireless efforts in representing our clients, coupled with his legal expertise and keen sense of humor, has significantly shaped the landscape of Michigan’s school law.
Kevin’s impact on jurisprudence concerning Michigan school districts can be seen in numerous decisions of Michigan courts and administrative tribunals, including the Michigan Employment Relations Commission and the State Tenure Commission. Kevin was also instrumental in advising the Legislature on significant amendments to the Teachers’ Tenure Act and the Public Employment Relations Act. Kevin’s dedication is reflected in the hundreds of collective bargaining agreements that he has successfully negotiated over the years, many of which have set the legal standard for labor relations affecting Michigan public schools.
Kevin is viewed by state and local officials as one of the preeminent experts in school law and has served as a resource on multiple occasions to Michigan Governors and the Michigan Legislature. Kevin is renowned for his insightful and entertaining legal updates and presentations which he has done over the years.
While Kevin will be deeply missed, we wish him much happiness and unlimited travels. Congratulations Kevin and GO GREEN!
