New Monthly Lunch Series: Title IX

Thrun Law Firm is offering a free virtual half-hour lunch webinar series for its retainer clients. From 12:15 pm – 12:45 pm on the second Thursday of each month, our Title IX practice group will delve into a specific topic related to the sweeping and, often confus­ing, new Title IX regulations. This series, which is intended to help school officials implement the new regulations in a practical way, will include the following topics:

  • The interplay between Title IX and Michigan’s criminal sexual conduct and student discipline laws;
  • Off-campus misconduct and its impact on Title IX claims;
  • Considerations and pitfalls for supportive measures and informal resolutions; and
  • Information disclosures during the investigation process.

The first meeting is scheduled for January 14, 2021. Login information for the Zoom webinar will be sent via e-mail to retainer clients.

These webinars do not serve as a substitute for the comprehensive Title IX training required for any school official in­volved in the Title IX grievance process. School officials should en­sure their schools have a legally-compliant Title IX policy and that all employees receive training about their new sexual harassment reporting requirements.

Thrun Law Firm has developed a model Title IX policy with supporting documents and a staff training video that addresses re­porting obligations. To date, the Title IX practice group has trained nearly 2,000 school administrators on the new Title IX regulations. We are now offering the Comprehensive Title IX Sexual Harassment Training on Friday January 15, 2021, and Friday February 12, 2021. School officials can register for either date using the attached form.
