Opening for Law Clerk – January 2020 – East Lansing, Michigan

Position Description:      Thrun Law Firm, P.C., a fast-paced law practice representing Michigan public schools, community colleges, municipalities, and other public sector clients, has an opening for one or two law clerks to assist Thrun attorneys with a variety of legal matters, including, but not limited to, performing legal research, drafting memoranda, briefs, and other legal documents, and assembling, organizing, or summarizing case materials.

Position Requirements: The successful candidate must be a current law student with strong academic credentials (minimum 3.0 law school GPA), excellent research and writing skills, good interpersonal skills, and preferably a demonstrated interest in the firm’s practice areas. First year law students will be considered but any job offer will be conditioned on the applicant satisfying the law school GPA requirement for first semester.

Hours:  Flexible but prefer a candidate that can work 15-20 hours per week during the school year.

Pay Range:  $15.57/hour

Start Date:  January 2020

Immediate Opening for Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant – East Lansing Michigan

Position Description:  East Lansing office of mid-size state-wide law firm seeks full-time Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant with at least 3 – 5 years of experience in litigation support or state/county/municipal administrative proceedings.  Position includes a variety of responsibilities and opportunities for growth.  Position is critical to 27-attorney law firm.  Candidate must be well-organized, self-motivated, attentive to detail, able to work collaboratively but with minimal supervision, and able to prioritize and follow through on long-term and short-term projects.  Successful candidate must be proficient in the use of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred qualifications include:  experience with legal document management systems, experience with e-filing in federal and state courts, experience with state administrative filings or AAA arbitration proceedings, and ability to provide basic end-user tech support.   Position is full-time (40 hours/week), Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.  We offer competitive salaries, generous benefits, and a pleasant working environment.  Additional information about our law firm is available on our website at www.thrunlaw.com.
