Kevin S. Harty joined Thrun Law Firm in 1982. Before that, Kevin was employed as a labor relations consultant for the Michigan Association of School Boards and as the Manager of Business and Government Relations for the Michigan State Chamber of Commerce.
Kevin earned his B.A. degree from the Michigan State University Honors College. He also holds a Masters of Labor and Industrial Relations from MSU and a J.D. from Wayne State University.
He is a member of the Michigan and American Bar Associations, as well as the labor and employment sections of those organizations. Kevin has also served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association since 1994.
Kevin’s practice is focused on labor and employment law. He has extensive experience in negotiations, arbitration, impasse resolution procedures and proceedings before the Michigan Employment relations Commission and the State Tenure Commission. Kevin has also been involved in the development of and litigation over amendments to the Public Employment Relations Act, the Teachers Tenure Act, and the Revised School Code. He is a past President of the Michigan Council of School Attorneys. Kevin was awarded the Education Fellows Award from MAISA in 2014.
Kevin resides in Traverse City.
