East Lansing

Kirk C. Herald joined Thrun Law Firm in 2002. Prior to joining the firm, he represented private sector real estate developers in a Detroit-area law firm. Kirk graduated from Hope College (B.A., cum laude, 1996), majoring in both political science and business administration, and from Michigan State University College of Law (J.D., summa cum laude, 1999), where he earned numerous academic awards and scholarships.

Kirk focuses his practice on construction, real estate, business transactions, and general school law. He has drafted and negotiated thousands of complex agreements on a wide range of transactional matters and also assists clients with resolving related conflicts through mediation, arbitration, and litigation when necessary. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer on school, construction, real estate, and contractual matters for organizations including the Michigan School Business Officials, the Michigan Association of Superintendents and Administrators, and the Michigan Association of School Boards. He is a member in good standing of the Ingham County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Michigan Counsel of School Attorneys, and the National Counsel of School Attorneys.

Kirk lives in the Lansing area with his wife and three children. He enjoys running, hiking, bicycling, and (almost) anything else outdoors, especially in Northern Michigan. He is an avid fan of Michigan State University athletics and the big four Detroit sports teams.
