Austin M. DeLano
Austin M. DeLano joined Thrun Law Firm in 2023, focusing his practice on labor and employment law, general school law and general civil litigation. He graduated from Ferris State University (B.S., summa cum laude, 2017) and Michigan State University College of Law (J.D., 2022), where he was a scholarship recipient and a member of the Fieger Trial Practice Institute. While attending law school, Austin worked as a law clerk at Thrun as well as an extern at the Michigan Department of Attorney General.
Before joining Thrun, Austin worked at another Lansing area law firm as a labor and employment attorney, where he counseled municipalities, small businesses, and non-profits on various legal issues. He advises school districts on a wide range of matters involving the Public Employment Relations Act, Open Meetings Act, Freedom of Information Act, Teacher Tenure Act, and the Michigan Revised School Code. Austin also assists clients with collective bargaining, grievances, fact-finding investigations, and other general school law matters.
Austin is admitted to practice law in Michigan and in the U.S. District Court for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan. He is also a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association, the Ingham County Bar Association, and the National Council of School Attorneys.
In addition to his work at Thrun, Austin serves as a judge advocate attorney in the Michigan Army National Guard. His military service has taken him across the United States, as well as to Europe and Africa, for numerous legal training missions. In his spare time, Austin enjoys spending time up north, traveling, and cheering on the Michigan State football and basketball teams.
